Secretary of State Jane Nelson Announces Texas Express—New Expedited Services for Business Filings

AUSTIN - Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson announced the launch of Texas Express, a tiered series of expedited services for business filings that will start October 1. The initiative is designed to provide faster turnaround times for Texas businesses seeking critical filings, allowing companies to operate at the pace of today's economy.

"Governor Abbott often says that Texas government should move at the speed of business, and that is exactly what we are doing," said Secretary Nelson. "As a former business owner, I know firsthand how important it is to have timely filings when you are closing a deal or pursuing a new opportunity. Texas Express will give businesses the certainty they need to move forward quickly and confidently."

Texas Express options are as follows:

  • Same-Day Service - Filings received by 12:00 p.m. will be processed by close of business the same day. Expedite fee: $750 per document plus the document filing fee
  • Next-Day Service - Filings received by 12:00 p.m. will be processed by close of business the next business day. Expedite fee: $500 per document plus the document filing fee
  • Standard Expedited - Filings will be processed before regular, non-expedited submissions, typically within 2-3 business days. Expedite fee: $50 per document plus the document filing fee

Same-Day and Next-Day Service is limited to these types of documents and will begin October 1, 2025:

  • Certificate of Conversion
  • Certificate of Merger
  • Certificate of Amendment (domestic entities)
  • Restated Certificate of Formation (domestic entities)
  • Certificate of Validation (domestic corporations)

Preclearance is highly encouraged. Additional filing types will become eligible in 2026.

Secretary Nelson emphasized the importance of the new service tiers for Texas businesses of all sizes.

"Whether you are running a Fortune 100 company or starting your first small business, our office is committed to providing efficient, reliable service," Secretary of State Nelson said. "By offering these new options, we are giving businesses the flexibility to choose the speed they need while ensuring our office can continue serving the growing demands of the Texas economy."

Since taking office in 2023, Secretary of State Nelson has prioritized improving customer service and modernizing operations.

Same-day and next-day filings are available for filings made in-person, including through a courier service. Standard expediting is available for documents submitted in person and by mail.
