Sierra Nevada Company Agree to Pay $7.75M to Settle False Claims Act

By DCAA Staff Writer

Fort Belvoir, VA -

Sierra Nevada Company, LLC (SNC), headquartered in Sparks, Nevada, has agreed to pay $7.75 million to resolve allegations under the False Claims Act involving conflicts of interest on government contracts.

The allegations involved SNC's employment of a Department of War (DoW) official as a consultant while the official continued to work for the government. During that period, the official participated in government decisions involving three contracts awarded to SNC and also recommended SNC products for purchase.

The United States alleged that this arrangement created an organizational conflict of interest under the Federal Acquisition Regulation. The government further alleged that SNC submitted or caused the submission of false claims, statements, and certifications related to the absence of a conflict of interest.

DCAA's Operations Investigative Support team assisted in this case by mapping the hidden money trail between the company and the DoW official, exposing the conflict of interest.

The individual involved pled guilty in 2025 to a criminal charge related to acts affecting a personal financial interest.
