James Fisher signs Memorandum of Understanding with UK Ministry of Defence

  • New Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) enables James Fisher (JF or "the Company") to provide personnel and tankers in support of UK MOD Strategic Base operations.
  • Agreement strengthens national resilience by enabling replenishment at sea, reducing the need for naval vessels to return to port.
  • Builds on JF's longstanding track record of supporting the Royal Navy and wider MOD, dating back to World War II.

James Fisher, a specialist provider of marine transport and tanker operations, has today signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the UK Ministry of Defence to explore rapid workforce mobilisation and enhance resilience in Strategic Base operations.

The agreement enables the MOD to call on JF's fleet and specialist workforce to provide surge capacity when required, ensuring strategic base operations can be sustained without interruption. Under the terms of the MOU, options will be considered to look at how the Company's vessels can be deployed to refuel naval assets at sea, extending operational reach and negating the need for ships to return to port.

Mike Arkley, Product Line Director Tankships at James Fisher Maritime Transport, said:

This agreement reinforces our proud history of supporting the UK s defence and maritime operations. By making our fleet and expertise available to the Ministry of Defence, we are helping to strengthen national resilience and ensure the Royal Navy can sustain operations wherever and whenever required. Our crews are highly experienced in tanker operations, and we are committed to delivering safe, assured support to the MoD at sea.
