James Fisher, a specialist provider of marine transport and tanker operations, has today signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the UK Ministry of Defence to explore rapid workforce mobilisation and enhance resilience in Strategic Base operations.
The agreement enables the MOD to call on JF's fleet and specialist workforce to provide surge capacity when required, ensuring strategic base operations can be sustained without interruption. Under the terms of the MOU, options will be considered to look at how the Company's vessels can be deployed to refuel naval assets at sea, extending operational reach and negating the need for ships to return to port.
This agreement reinforces our proud history of supporting the UK s defence and maritime operations. By making our fleet and expertise available to the Ministry of Defence, we are helping to strengthen national resilience and ensure the Royal Navy can sustain operations wherever and whenever required. Our crews are highly experienced in tanker operations, and we are committed to delivering safe, assured support to the MoD at sea.
The MOU was signed on 11 September 2025 and forms part of a portfolio of agreements the MOD has established with industry to strengthen national resilience and enhance operational flexibility. The agreement reflects a modern, agile approach to Defence readiness, with James Fisher committed to working alongside the MOD to develop future solutions that enhance resilience at sea.
