Minister of Foreign Affairs to visit Paris, French Republic, and Geneva, Swiss Confederation

From 23 - 25 February 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to visit Paris, French Republic, and Geneva, Swiss Confederation.

On 23 February 2026, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet with the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to discuss cooperation between Thailand and UNESCO on the protection of cultural property. He will also hold bilateral discussions with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.

On 24 February 2026, the Foreign Minister will travel to Geneva to attend and deliver a statement at the High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC). In his capacity as a member of the HRC for the term 2025 - 2027, he will present Thailand's vision and perspectives on the human rights situation at the regional and global levels. He will also highlight Thailand's notable human rights efforts, particularly in combating online scam-related crimes, which have significant human rights implications, including financial fraud victimization, forced labour, deprivation of liberty, psychological abuse, violations of human dignity, as well as broader economic and social impacts at both regional and global levels. This builds upon Thailand's proactive role following its co-hosting, together with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), of The International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams in December 2025 in Bangkok. In addition, the Foreign Minister will also meet with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and attend a reception hosted by Zambia in its capacity as President of the 23rd Meeting of States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (Ottawa Convention).

Participation in the High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the HRC will provide Thailand an opportunity to exchange views on the role of the United Nations in promoting international peace and security and in protecting human rights worldwide, including in the context of the Thailand - Cambodia border situation. Thailand wishes to see respect for and implementation of the Joint Statement signed by both sides on 27 December 2025, as well as compliance with international human rights law and international humanitarian law, and relevant international obligations, including the Ottawa Convention, in order to achieve sustainable peace between the two countries and in the region.
