Today, at the 1st Infantry Brigade base in Tapa, Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur awarded the Medal for Participation in International Military Operations to members of Allied units from the United Kingdom, France and the United States in recognition of their service in Estonia.
"Through your service in Estonia, you have demonstrated what NATO truly stands for - Allied soldiers serving side by side in pursuit of a common goal and gaining valuable shared experience. Your deployment has been marked by high readiness, exemplary conduct and excellent cooperation with the Estonian Defence Forces," said Minister Pevkur in his address.
"During your mission, you also faced the coldest winter Estonia has seen in the past 15 years. Nevertheless, you carried out Exercise WINTERCAMP 26 with professionalism and resilience," the minister added.
The medals were presented to members of the 3rd Platoon of the U.S. 102nd Military Police Company, as well as personnel from the United Kingdom's Royal Tank Regiment and the French contingent serving as part of the NATO Multinational Battlegroup deployed in Estonia.
NATO Battlegroups were established in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland in 2017.
