Capito Votes to Reopen Government, Pass Three Appropriations Bills

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a leader on the Senate Appropriations Committee and a member of Senate Republican Leadership, issued the below statement after voting for a final package that includes a clean continuing resolution until January 30, 2026 and three bipartisan, full-year appropriations bills- Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies; Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies; and Legislative Branch.

"After 41 days of delay, I'm glad we were able to reach a solution to reopen the government. It shouldn't have taken this long to do the right thing for the American people. Our goal has always been simple: keep the government open and complete our appropriations process through regular order- the way the Senate is supposed to function. I'm grateful to the Democrats who joined Republicans in voting to do just that. In addition to reopening our government, I am glad we were able to pass three full year Appropriations bills, and I look forward to passing more and completing our work," Senator Capito said.
