New Delaware Laws Impact Education and Employment

Credit unions should we aware of two new laws recently signed by Delaware Governor Matt Meyer affecting education and employment.

Financial Literacy Graduation Requirement
Under the Equity and Inclusion in Financial Literacy for All High School Students in Delaware Act, students will be required to complete at least a half credit in financial literacy to graduate. The curriculum must meet standards established by the Delaware Department of Education and may cover topics such as budgeting, saving, establishing credit, and financial planning. All high schools must begin offering the course in the 2026-2027 school year.

Salary and Wage Transparency
House Bill 105 increases transparency in the workplace by requiring most employers to include salary or wage ranges and a description of benefits in all job postings. Employers must also maintain job descriptions and wage records for current employees and for three years after an employee leaves. The law applies to employers with more than 10 employees.
