GARDEN CITY, NY - On Monday, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04), a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, welcomed Firefly Aerospace CEO Jason Kim and Adelphi University students for an event celebrating STEM education and highlight the Museum of the Moon installation at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. Firefly Aerospace is a leading space technology company designing launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles for government and commercial space missions.
"Long Island is home to exceptional educational institutions, such as Adelphi University and Hofstra, in addition to some of the best K-12 schools in the nation," said Rep. Gillen."Mr. Kim's success with Firefly has done so much to inspire young Americans with Blue Ghost's imagery of the Earth and the Moon, including views of a breathtaking total eclipse and a lunar sunset seen from the Moon's surface. It was an honor to welcome Mr. Kim to New York's Fourth Congressional District and join him to encourage our students to pursue careers in STEM and space exploration."
Mr. Kim previously testified in front of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee on the importance on commercial space providers in continuing America's dominance in the space sector. Before joining Firefly Aerospace in 2024, Mr. Kim supported hundreds of satellite missions in support of national security, NASA, and commercial missions, in addition to serving seven years in the United States Air Force.
