Ansbach captures FY26 USAREUR-AF Commander’s Cup

ANSBACH, Germany - U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach captured the fiscal year 2026 U.S. Army Europe and Africa Commander's Cup, capping a year of strong Soldier participation in intramural and theater-level sports.
These are the results of the 2026 USAREUR-AF Commander's Cup standings.
Battalion Division
- 1st: 2nd Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment - Ansbach
- 2nd: 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment - Ansbach
- 3rd: 4th Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment - Bavaria
Separate Unit Division
- 1st: HHC, 66th Military Intelligence Brigade (Theater) - Wiesbaden
- 2nd: HHC, Rheinland-Pfalz - Rheinland-Pfalz
- 3rd: 515th Combat Training Company - Rheinland-Pfalz
Unlike a traditional tournament, the Commander's Cup is a year-long competition. Garrisons and units accumulate points by fielding teams, competing in sports, participating in community fitness events, and staying engaged with their installation sports programs.
"The secret to winning isn't just winning games - it's participation," said Corey Reynolds, USAG Ansbach Sports Program Specialist. "It's more than just about winning a basketball or football championship. Every time Soldiers put a team together, compete and participate in an event, they're earning points."
Ansbach separated itself from the field in FY26 by sending two teams to Installation Management Command-Europe competition in each of its four core sports - basketball, flag football, volleyball and softball. The garrison also had two successful All-Army basketball submissions.
"That really shows the depth we have here," Reynolds said. "We had Soldiers who wanted to compete and command teams that supported them. That combination made a huge difference."
Reynolds, who arrived at USAG Ansbach in September 2025, said his focus has been rebuilding participation in the intramural program and making it easier for units to get involved.
For Ansbach, having two units finish first and second in the Battalion Division underscored the installation's overall level of participation.
"Soldiers showed up, competed and supported each other all year," Reynolds said. "That's what brought the Commander's Cup to Ansbach."
