Pickett, Baker Announce State Grants for Improvements in Wyoming County

Oct. 22, 2024

HARRISBURG - State grants totaling nearly $750,000 were awarded today for projects and purchases in Wyoming County, announced Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20).

The grant awards are as follows:
• Factoryville Borough - $125,000 for purchase of a new pickup truck.
• Falls Township - $228,924 for purchase of a new municipal truck.
• Lemon Township - $125,000 for purchase of an excavator.
• Nicholson Borough - $142,013 for construction of Phase 1 of the Nicholson Historical Nature Trail.
• Tunkhannock Borough - $125,000 for construction of a utility shed.

"Limited budgets often make it difficult for small municipalities to purchase much-needed equipment," said Pickett. "That's why state funding support is critical to ensuring those purchases are made so local officials can continue to provide municipal services to their residents."

"Once again, we commend local officials for submitting good projects to upgrade community facilities, enhance environmental protection, and expand recreational opportunities. These are locally determined priorities that mean a great deal to residents. In combination, these projects make our communities more livable and enjoyable," Baker said.

The grants were made available through the Local Share Account (LSA) program, which is designed to distribute funds derived from gaming revenue to support community and economic development projects.

The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania's economic growth.
