BLM approves broadband communications site in Morongo Valley

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management approved the application for the Morongo Canyon Highway 62 Multi-Tenant Wireless Broadband Communications Site project on just over an acre of public land near Morongo Valley in San Bernardino County. The project will improve telecommunication and broadband connections for Morongo and Yucca Valley communities.

The approval authorizes InterConnect Towers LLC to construct, operate, maintain and eventually decommission a wireless broadband communications site, including an access road and supporting infrastructure. The decision also includes an amendment to the California Desert Conservation Area Plan to update the visual resource management classification for the project area.

The project supports Executive Order No. 13821, Streamlining and Expediting Requests to Locate Broadband Facilities in Rural America, by providing access to reliable, high-speed broadband service in the Morongo Basin.

The Decision Record and additional documents are in the BLM National NEPA Register.
