WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a leader on the Senate Appropriations Committee and a member of Senate Republican Leadership, issued the below statement after voting for a package that includes five bipartisan, full-year appropriations bills- Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-H); Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD); Defense; Financial Services and General Government; and State, Foreign Operations, and Related Agencies.
"I'm proud to see the Senate come together to pass these appropriations bills, a bipartisan package that responsibly funds key priorities across various agencies. These priorities were carefully crafted, debated and agreed to in a bipartisan and bicameral manner, and they can actually be carried out. Additionally, this package includes many provisions that can help West Virginians. Funds for roads and bridges, projects to enhance economic development throughout West Virginia, and support for agencies that employ and serve our residents are reasons why I worked to craft this legislation. I'm pleased to see this package finally pass," Senator Capito said.
On Thursday, Senator Capito, who also chairs the Labor-H Appropriations Subcommittee, delivered a speech on the Senate floor where she highlighted the many wins included in the Labor-HHS portion in the bill, as well as the need to pass the remaining appropriations bills.
