Governor General to present the new Mary May Simon Cup at the Canadian Ringette Championships

Ottawa, Ontario-Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, will present the inaugural Mary May Simon Cup, which is named in her honour, following the gold medal game at the Canadian Ringette Championships. It will be the first time a National Ringette League trophy has featured the Inuktitut language.
As a sport invented in Canada and growing in popularity, ringette is a source of national pride. Bringing young women athletes from across the country together, the championships celebrate outstanding athletic achievement and Canada's sports heritage.
