Senate Parliamentarian Ruling Advised Republican Provision to Defund Planned Parenthood Can Stay in Budget Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after the Senate Parliamentarian ruled that a Republican provision to defund Planned Parenthood could remain in the Senate reconciliation bill:
"Republicans will stop at nothing in their crusade to take control of women's bodies and deny them the right to make their own health care decisions," the senators said. "Republicans are trampling the law to force their extremist ideology onto the American people."
