Ready to Protect & Serve New Brunswick



NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (March 8, 2026) - The New Brunswick Police Department is hiring. Serving as a police officer is an ideal opportunity to make a difference in the lives of fellow residents in the City.

Applicants are required to take the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Entry Level Law Enforcement Exam. Candidates who pass the exam are added to an applicant pool, from which the state commission will produce a candidate list.

Applicants must be a citizen of the U.S., a resident of New Brunswick, have graduated from high school, a vocational school, or received a New Jersey-approved equivalency certificate, and must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a maximum of 35 years of age. Fitness testing is part of the training. It is recommended that every applicant be in good physical condition prior to attending the training program.
