Hamilton Township, NJ, March 31, 2026 - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJUH Hamilton), an RWJBarnabas Health facility, honored Zahid Baig, MD, Gastroenterologist, and Medical Staff Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine at RWJUH Hamilton, on National Doctors' Day for exemplifying compassionate care, exceptional professionalism and genuine kindness along with an unwavering dedication to the community and charitable service.

National Doctors' Day, celebrated annually at RWJBarnabas Health on March 30, serves as a day to acknowledge the vital role that doctors play in the health and well-being of individuals and communities and say thank you.

"Our doctors are trusted guides, providing clarity, comfort and life-changing care during critical and vulnerable moments in our patients lives, and supporting their physical, emotional or recovery journeys," said Lisa Breza, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, Chief Administrative Officer for RWJUH Hamilton, as she kicked off the ceremony. "Their work in not only vital, but it is truly transformative. Our providers are part of our family. I've been here 40 years, and what resonates with me is that RWJUH Hamilton is special- we have a real connection because we are a community-based hospital."

The ceremony was well attended by the hospital's senior leaders, physician leadership, board of trustees, nurses, and Dr. Baig's colleagues, family and friends, including his wife, Sumeera Baid, MD, and his three children--two future doctors and a future teacher.

"Today, we honor one exceptional physician, who has dedicated his life not only to RWJUH Hamilton and his patients, but also to the community and to those less fortunate," said Imran Fayyaz, MD, Medical Staff President at RWJUH Hamilton. Dr. Fayyaz also shared a message written by one of Dr. Baig's patients that read, "I would like to take this time out to thank you for not being a good doctor, but a great doctor. You took away all my fears with your smile and the care provided afterwards."

Dr. Baig was presented with a well-deserved plaque by Seth D. Rosenbaum, MD, MMM, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, RWJUH Hamilton, and Dr. Fayyaz, which will be added to the hospital's Physician Wall of Honor. "We are here to celebrate one of our trusted colleagues, Dr. Baig, for his many years of service as both a gastroenterologist as well as a community physician," said Dr. Rosenbaum. "No one is more deserving to receive this recognition and award."

Upon accepting this prestigious recognition, Dr. Baig offered heartfelt remarks to his peers sharing, "To my fellow physicians, reflect on the legacy you wish to leave on earth and work towards it. How we treat people, the character we live by, and how we serve others will be our legacy. And to our patients, we are there for you. God bless you and God bless your families."

Dr. Baig was also last year's Physician Honoree at RWJUH Hamilton's fundraising event which supported RWJUH Hamilton's Patient Assistance Fund. He is a member of Hamilton Gastroenterology Group and Secretary and Founder of Medina Health Center.
