Twiggs Co: Upcoming Traffic Shift for SR 94
Scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025
The affected portions along the state route system are 96 on milepost 8.5. A shift of traffic onto a new portion of SR 96 in Twiggs County as part of PI 322470. The goal is to widen SR 96 into a 4-lane divided highway from US 23/US 129 Alt/SR 87 to I-16, and this traffic shift is another step towards reaching that goal. This will be the 2nd traffic shift for this project. The purpose of shifting traffic onto this newly constructed section of SR 96 is so the contractor can obliterate the old 2-way section of SR 96 from milepost 8.5 to 9 to be reconstructed per the plans as the future westbound-only travel lanes of SR 96.
SR 96's traffic will be shifted to the new section of roadway beginning just west of the Faulks Landing Road (Pvt) intersection. The new section of SR 96 is further south of the existing SR 96. 2-way traffic flow will remain on the new roadway as the old portion is closed to traffic.
Message Boards & advanced warning signage is being utilized to alert the traveling public ahead of the shift.
Advisory: Motorists should avoid the area and take an alternate route. Any updates or changes to the schedule will be posted on Facebook and Twitter @GDOTWest. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through these zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
