CORREA SECURES $850,000 IN FEDERAL FUNDING FOR SANTA ANA COLLEGE WORKFORCE TRAINING PROGRAMS

SANTA ANA, CA - U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) today presented a check for $850,000 in federal funding to Santa Ana College. These dollars were used to create infrastructure for its Automotive Technology, Diesel-Electric Transportation Technology, and Robotics Manufacturing/Welding programs. The funding, secured by Rep. Correa through the FY26 appropriations process, will allow the college to serve 200 additional students each semester in training for in-demand, good-paying careers.

"Santa Ana College has always been a launching pad for opportunity in our community, and this funding makes sure it stays that way," said Rep. Correa. "Families in Orange County want access to good jobs that don't require a four-year degree and a mountain of debt - like jobs in the trades, in manufacturing, and in transportation. This investment means 200 more students a semester get hands-on training and a real shot at those careers."

The programs have at times had over 400 students on waitlists, and the trades they train for pay median hourly wages of roughly $28 to $41. The funding will support retrofitting a vacant lot and adjacent classroom space, part of a $4.865 million project expected to add five automotive, two diesel technology, and three welding courses each semester once complete.

Rep. Correa has long been a champion for workforce training at Santa Ana College, securing $2,000,000 in FY23 to help dislocated and at-risk members of our community gain skills essential for employment, $850,000 in FY24 to renovate workforce training facilities, and $1,031,000 in FY26 for the college's Criminal Justice Academies to enhance regional training programs and facilities to meet the current and future demand for correctional and peace officers.
