This week, the City of Salinas will install temporary, portable traffic signals at the intersection of Boronda Road and McKinnon Street.
The installation is tentatively scheduled to occur for the next days starting overnight on Thursday, September 18. To perform this work, the existing permanent traffic signals will be de-energized, or shut off, during installation.
Please drive with extra caution. The new portable signals are much shorter than the existing signals.
Once activated, the temporary signals will have special timing to help manage school traffic more effectively during peak hours.
Please be aware and expect delays during this period. The City of Salinas encourages all drivers to give themselves extra time for their commutes, especially during school drop-off and pick-up hours.
This work is part of the ongoing Boronda Road project. The temporary signals will be in place for the remainder of Stage 1 (until mid-October 2025) and throughout Stage 2 (until mid-March 2026).
