City Trash, Recycling Holiday Schedule
For the Christmas holiday Dec. 24-26, City services and facilities will operate according to the following holiday schedule:
TRASH / RECYCLING / BRUSH AND BULKY ITEM COLLECTION (BABIC)
There will be NO trash, recycling or Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC) service provided Thursday, Dec. 25 or Friday, Dec. 26. There will be NO make-up days for trash collection or BABIC.
The table below shows the make-up days for recycling service.

DART Featuring Free Rides, Schedule Changes for Christmas and New Year's Holidays
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will follow a modified schedule on Thursday, Dec. 25 as well as next week on Thursday, Jan. 1. There are no service changes for Dec. 24 or Dec. 31.
Schedule for Dec. 25 and Jan. 1:
DART buses: operating on a Sunday schedule
DART light rail and Silver Line: operating on a weekend schedule
TRE: no service
DART Paratransit: all subscription trips cancelled with an exception for dialysis appointments. On-demand trips can still be booked as needed. Reservations will remain open 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
DART Customer Relations Center, Customer Support Center, Lost & Found, and DARTmart: closed
DART GoLink will operate on a normal weekday schedule Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Additionally, DART will give away 10,500 free rides using the code COORSNYE25 on GoPass on New Year's Eve.

No City Council Meeting Next Monday
Due to the upcoming New Year's holiday, there will be no City Council work session or meeting Dec. 29. The Council will next meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5.

Richardson Today in Mailboxes Next Week
The January 2026 print edition of Richardson Today is expected to hit mailboxes next week, packed with information about New City Hall, the Healthier Texas Community Challenge, the upcoming State of the City Address, a wrap up of holiday events in Richardson, and more.
Richardson Today is mailed to every residence in the city. Ask your local mail carrier if you do not receive your copy and you live within the boundaries of Richardson.

Fiber Optic Work to Take Place on Floyd Road North of Campbell Road
Northbound and southbound Floyd Road between Campbell Road and Lawnmeadow Drive may be narrowed to traffic and the right turn lane of westbound Campbell onto northbound Floyd may be closed to traffic from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. so fiber optic installation work can take place. The work is expected to take place through late April, weather permitting.
Lane Closure on Executive Drive West South of Security Row
Executive Drive West just south of Security Row may be down to one lane, with flaggers present to alternate the movement of traffic, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. so utility work can take place. The work is expected to take place through late February, weather permitting.

Winter Break Tennis Camp Next Week
Huffhines Tennis Center, 1601 Syracuse Dr.
Cost: $160/four days (register here)
Dec. 29-Jan. 2 (no camp on New Year's Day)
9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Tennis players ages 5-16 or all skill levels are invited to the Huffhines Tennis Center's Winter Break Tennis Camp. If there is bad weather, the camp will be held inside the Huffhines Recreation Center gymnasium.
2025 Winter Break Camp - Week 2
Heights Recreation Center, 711 W. Arapaho Rd.
Cost: $150/three days (register here)
Dec. 29-31
7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 29-30); 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 31)
A three-day camp for ages 5-11 at Heights Recreation Center during RISD student holidays. Kids will enjoy indoor/outdoor activities (weather-permitting). Please send a sack lunch, insulated water bottle, closed-toe shoes and two snacks.
Artful Explorations Winter Art Camp
Huffhines Recreation Center, 200 N. Plano Rd.
Cost: $65 plus a $45 supply fee (register here)
Dec. 29-31
1-4 p.m.
Give your young artist a chance to dive into fine art with six winter-themed projects: two watercolor, two acrylic and two oil paintings. Step-by-step instruction covers color theory, brush strokes, perspective and more. Please wear an apron, bring some paper towels and a snack each day. For ages 6-13.
"Saturday Morning Kids" Family Storytime this Saturday

A family storytime program geared toward children ages 3-6 years. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

Facilities Maintenance Specialist ($49,502.96 to $73,499.92 Salary)
Facilities is looking for an individual who can perform skilled maintenance, repairs and installations on building facilities, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, electronic, plumbing, pumping and motor control systems. Texas Driver's License, Class C, required.
Crew Chief ($57,541 - $80,347 Salary)
The Public Services Department is looking for an individual with experience in construction and/or maintenance of water distribution and waste collection systems. A Texas Commercial Driver's License, Class A is required.
Recreation Customer Services Representative ($21.00/hr to $24.62/hr)
The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for an individual who can assist in supervising Recreation Center instructors, programs and activities, and work evenings and/or weekends as needed. Completion of ninth grade required.
