The following is a transcript of Dr. David Hahn's message to campus upon being named the 8th President of Boise State University.
I want to say hello to the Boise State University community on my first day as the eighth president of this wonderful institution.
It's a real honor to assume this role at a time, as I said a few weeks ago, when Boise State University has amazing momentum. What this great institution does for students' success, innovative research, engagement with the community, and the amazing Broncos athletic program, are something that drew me to this opportunity from the first moment.
It's exciting to finally be here. I am committed to working with all of you from day one, today. What I will be doing a lot of in the coming months is listening, getting out across this campus and meeting with the wonderful people that make this university work.
A university is only as good as its people. The students that we bring in, that trust us to advance their education, to foster student success, to make them ready to go out into the world as Boise State Broncos, carry the name forward and contribute to the nation and the economy.
To the staff members that really make this university happen. Our advisors, our business offices, our community environment, the people that run the auxiliaries, all the people that come together toward our success, I look forward to meeting you, to understanding how we can work together and collaborate.
And to our faculty members, I always consider myself a faculty member throughout my entire 28 year career. I look forward to getting to know each of you, to understand, again, the great strengths here, the opportunities, what I can help us to do.
It's all about the wonderful momentum here. I think the future of Boise State University is amazingly bright, and together I think we're going to reach that potential. Thank you.
