EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Post-Effective Amendment No. 85 to the Registration Statement on Form N-1A for Dreyfus Government Cash Management Funds is being filed pursuant to paragraph (b)(1)(iii) of Rule 485 under the Securities Act of 1933 solely for the purpose of delaying, until July 20, 2026, the effectiveness of Post-Effective Amendment No. 83 ("PEA No. 83"), which was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission via EDGAR on April 13, 2026. Since no other changes are intended to be made to PEA No. 83 by means of this filing, Parts A and B of PEA No. 83 and Part C of Post-Effective Amendment No. 84 are incorporated herein by reference.
