Chinese Ambassador to Iceland He Rulong Calls on Newly Elected Speaker of the Parliament of Iceland

On April 15, Ambassador He Rulong had a courtsey call on H.E. Þórunn Sveinbjarnardóttir, the newly elected Speaker of the Parliament of Iceland (Alþingi). The two sides exchanged views on China-Iceland relations, inter-parliamentary exchanges, and other issues of mutual interest.

Ambassador He said that China-Iceland relations have enjoyed sound and steady development as the practical cooperation continued to be advanced. China attaches great importance to developing bilateral relations with Iceland, and is ready to enhance inter-parliamentary exchanges and expand cooperation in areas such as trade and tourism to further advance the relationship.

Speaker Sveinbjarnardóttir said that the Icelandic Parliament values its friendly ties with China's National People's Congress and looks forward to deepening inter-parliamentary exchanges, promoting mutually beneficial cooperation, with a view to enhancing bilateral relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on the current international situation.
