Cary, NC - As part of the statewide initiative celebrating America's 250th anniversary, Cary is proud to host the American Revolution Experience at the Gathering House in Downtown Cary Park from Saturday, July 18, through Saturday, July 25. This innovative Revolutionary War exhibition, a collaborative project of the American Battlefield Trust and the Asbury Station Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, highlights the literal and figurative journeys of patriots and loyalists, men and women, Black and Native populations, and even international allies. Through 12 informational panels and three interactive kiosks, the exhibition explores thematic connections between drummer boys, military mapmakers, and other ordinary people affected by the war.

The American Revolution Experience launched online in its original digital-only iteration in the summer of 2022, earning rapid acclaim. It received a Bronze Award in the Education, Art, and Culture division of the second annual Anthem Awards, an initiative of the Webby Awards that celebrates purpose and mission-driven work. It was also a finalist in the "People's Choice" category at the Webby Awards.

Cary's Gathering House is among the scores of libraries, historical societies, and museums that will host the American Revolution Experience through 2027, but it is the only location in the Triangle region. The exhibit is free and opens with a ceremony from noon to 1 p.m. on July 18. Exhibit operating hours are available on Cary's calendar of events webpage.
