House of Representatives Passes the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026
Washington, D.C. (April 30, 2026) - Today, the House of Representatives passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 (H.R. 7567). In response, National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) President Jamie Kress issued the following statement:
"NAWG appreciates Chairman Thompson's leadership in advancing this critical legislation. The Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 delivers meaningful improvements that will provide certainty for farmers, expand market opportunities, and reinforce the vital role our nation's farmers play in both food security and national security.
"This bill reflects many of wheat farmers' top priorities from modernizing farm credit and safeguarding international food aid programs to enhancing export competitiveness. These provisions will help ensure America's wheat farmers can remain resilient and globally competitive. We urge the Senate to act quickly to advance this legislation and deliver a strong, bipartisan farm bill to the President's desk."
