Vacancy: Trainee Legal & Social Affairs

Are you looking to develop your expertise in International and European Social Affairs within a dynamic policy environment?

Position

We are recruiting a full-time trainee to join our International & European Social Affairs team for a 7-month traineeship. This role offers hands-on experience in EU social and employment policy affecting the banking sector, alongside exposure to international developments (with a focus on the US, UK and China).

Working closely with senior colleagues, you will contribute to policy monitoring, stakeholder engagement and coordination activities, while strengthening your analytical and drafting skills in a Brussels-based European association environment.

Key responsibilities

As part of the team, you will:

  • Monitor and analyse EU developments in social and employment policy relevant to the banking sector.
  • Support the organisation of meetings of the Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee in the Banking Sector, including preparing documentation and drafting summaries.
  • Contribute to ongoing work related to an EU-funded project on AI in the services sectors.
  • Support engagement with European social partners, national banking associations, employer representatives and trade unions.
  • Monitor international policy developments (US, UK, China) in financial services.
  • Continue international engagement and facilitate dialogue with stakeholders (European Commission, UK and US policy makers)
  • Draft briefings and speaking points under supervision.
  • Assist in coordinating internal working groups and committee meetings.

Profile

We are seeking a motivated and proactive candidate with a genuine interest in EU affairs and social policy.

You should have:

  • A strong interest in European and international policy.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
  • EU citizenship with the right to work in the EU.
  • Previous internship experience or up to 1 year of experience in a related field (EU social, employment or financial services policy).
  • Basic knowledge of EU decision-making processes.
  • Interest in the European social dialogue framework and/or the banking sector (an asset).
  • Strong drafting and communication skills in English.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English; additional EU languages are an asset.

Starting date: as of April 2026
