On August 25, the No.3 Unit of Jiangxi Shenhua Jiujiang Company's phase II expansion project successfully completed 168 hours of full-load trial operation at its first attempt and was officially put into commercial operation, injecting new impetus into stable energy supplies during the peak summer demand.
The project integrates and applies 58 domestic leading technologies featuring wide-load, high-efficiency, flexibility, energy conservation, environmental protection and intelligent power generation. It is equipped with single-row high pressure serpentine heaters, enabling in-depth utilization of flue gas waste heat. Additionally, it adopts high-efficiency, collaborative, intelligent and eco-friendly equipment and systems, configures magnetic levitation blower for aeration, and applies technologies such as advanced circulating water treatment, thereby achieving zero discharge across the entire plant's water system and ultra-low emission of air pollutants. Furthermore, it pioneers the application of a series of new equipment in China, including the fourth-generation OPCC cyclone burner for coal-fired boilers, new 1220-class last-stage blades for steam turbines, tilt-pad bearing supports for steam turbo-generators, and all-alloy lining environmental desulfurization systems. The project has thus provided an engineering demonstration and practical benchmark for the "Five New" technology system (New equipment, New technologies, New materials, New techniques, and New services) in the power industry.
Since the project' launch, the Company has been consistently dedicated to its goal of building a world-class demonstration power station. Adhering to high-standard commencement, high-level construction, and high-quality commissioning, it has comprehensively strengthened management in engineering safety, quality, schedule, investment, and materials, with the construction progress and site management ranking among the top of its peers. Throughout construction, the project has fully rolled out a smart site management system, and realized digital management by leveraging a digital and intelligent platform, significantly enhancing construction quality and efficiency. In addition, the introduction of a safety risk early-warning system enables real-time monitoring of equipment operational status, providing robust technical support for the long-term safe and stable operation of the units.
Following the commissioning of the No.3 Unit, the Company's operational capacity has increased from 2 GW to 3 GW. Meanwhile, the No.4 Unit is undergoing commissioning as scheduled. Upon full completion and operation of all units, it will further meet the surging electricity demand in Jiangxi Province, effectively alleviate pressure during peak consumption period, optimize the provincial energy structure, and reduce dependence on external power purchases. Furthermore, the project will significantly enhance the reliability of energy supply in Jiangxi Province and significantly strengthen power supply capacity in the Central China region, thus injecting strong impetus into local economic and social development.
