Chinese Ambassador-Designate to Brunei Darussalam Chen Shaochun Arrives in Brunei

On January 9th, 2026, H.E. Chen Shaochun, the newly-appointed Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, and Madame Wu Yi arrived in Brunei to assume their posts. Ambassador Chen was welcomed by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam and major diplomats from the Embassy at the airport.

Ambassador Chen stated that he was deeply honored to be appointed by President Xi Jinping as the thirteenth Chinese Ambassador to Brunei on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Ambassador Chen highlighted that, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the cooperation between China and Brunei has yielded fruitful results, and the bilateral relations are full of prospects and great potential. He will work with friends from various sectors in Brunei to resolutely implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further deepen and broaden friendly cooperation, and steadily advance the building of a China-Brunei community with a shared future.
