Augusta, Georgia Government
AUGUSTA, GA (December 16, 2025 ) - The Augusta Commission has officially adopted the City of Augusta's FY 2026 Budget, following months of review, collaboration, and difficult financial decision-making. The approved budget reflects the Commission's commitment to fiscal responsibility while continuing to deliver essential services to the community.
The FY 2026 budget includes no tax millage increase, holding the millage rate steady for residents. The budget includes reductions of 5 percent for most General Fund departments. The spending plan also incorporates $4.8 million in one-time funding to help stabilize operations and address priority needs.
City Administrator Tameka Allen acknowledged the challenges faced throughout the budget process and expressed appreciation for the collective effort involved.
"This has been a very challenging year, but I am grateful for the cooperation and teamwork of all departments and agencies," said Administrator Allen.
The adopted budget reflects a measured approach to balancing limited resources while continuing to meet the City's core operational responsibilities.
