The Office of the Provost's Faculty Diversity Team invites faculty to attend the Third Spaces Fall 2025 Writing Retreat on Friday, Sept. 26, from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. This event will take place in the East and West rooms of the Hitchcock Center for the Environment, located at 845 West Street in Amherst.
This off-campus retreat offers an opportunity to write in community, cultivate sustainable writing practices, and strengthen meaningful connections. It is especially designed to support faculty of color and others who value inclusive, affirming spaces for scholarly growth. Complimentary breakfast, lunch, coffee, tea and snacks will be provided throughout the day.
Participants will benefit from dedicated time to focus on their writing goals, exchange ideas with colleagues, and receive constructive feedback in a supportive and collaborative environment. The retreat also provides a chance to connect with the Third Spaces facilitators and writing coach Cathy Luna, who will guide participants on planning, productivity and stress-reduction strategies to help them maintain accountability and feel supported throughout the semester. Luna will also offer individual consultations, with a sign-up sheet available during the retreat for those interested in personalized support. Through Third Spaces, faculty members will gain access to expert coaching and a community of peers committed to helping one another write consistently and purposefully.
Pre-registration is required and will be open until Tuesday, Sept.16.
More information about the Third Spaces Writing Program, including the daily virtual write-on-site sessions and free individual writing consultations, can be found on the Office of the Provost website.
