In addition to her studies and preparation for her future career, Kara Williams, an accounting senior from Murfreesboro, has taken on the task to help her fellow students also better prepare for their careers, especially in accounting.

As a Student Ambassador for the Tennessee Society of CPAs (TSCPA), Williams partnered with the College of Business Career Connection team to host two on-campus events for business students, highlighting ways students can engage with the TSCPA's offerings to prepare for their future.

Her experiences with the TSCPA have positioned Williams for success in the accounting field, but her five internships have given her the practical skills to back it up.She gained hands-on experience with firms such as Deloitte, Marcum LLP, LBMC and the State of Tennessee.

"Every internship has thoroughly prepared me for the next step in my career," Williams says. "I'm grateful for the connections I've made, especially the full-time offer I've secured with Deloitte's Nashville office after graduation in 2026."

Looking ahead, Williams plans to stay involved with the TSCPA and continue using the tools she's gained to serve both her profession and her community. "The TSCPA and my internships have equipped me with the skills and network I need to make an impact in the accounting profession," said Williams.

As a Student TSCPA Ambassador, she has taken full advantage of the organization's valuable resources, including leadership opportunities, scholarships and networking with CPAs across Tennessee.

In October 2023, Williams hosted a social event in the Swang Business Center where students could enjoy homemade hot chocolate bombs and cookies while learning about TSCPA's mock exam, networking opportunities and free membership.

"In April, I brought Stephen Reed, senior manager at LBMC, to campus, and his talk gave students valuable insights into the CPA path as they prepared for graduation," she said. "The TSCPA bridges the gap between college and the professional world, and I want other students to benefit from it as much as I have."
