MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ | CLEARWATER, FL - Middlesex County and The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), the nation's leading venue management agency, announce a new partnership to manage three flagship venues on the Middlesex College campus in Edison, New Jersey - advancing the County's long-term economic vision, the Community, Innovation, Opportunity (CIO) Strategic Investment Plan. Under this partnership, SFC will manage day-to-day operations, maintenance, scheduling, and programming across the new Middlesex College stadium, Thomas A. Edison Park, and the full-service restaurant inside the new Middlesex College Student Center.

"Our new premier destination for sports and entertainment in Middlesex County needs an experienced partner who understands quality standards, guest experience, and diverse programming," said Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios. "The Board of County Commissioners and I are pleased to enlist Sports Facilities Companies, a professional partner with an industry track record of managing multi-use venues, to ensure we exceed the expectations of our residents and visitors - every time they visit."

"Middlesex County has made a bold investment in its future," said SFC Senior Vice President Jack Adams. "What's come to life here is more than a venue. It's a destination where sports, entertainment, education, and community connect in a powerful way. SFC is proud to be part of a vision that promotes wellness, brings people together, and creates lasting economic impact. This project will play a major role in shaping Middlesex County for decades."

The CIO Plan, an extension of the County's Destination 2040 strategic roadmap, has been championed by the Board of County Commissioners to boost the regional economy and strengthen youth athletics, sports, education, and culture in New Jersey and beyond, while enhancing experiences for local athletes, students, and residents. With critical funding from the federal, state, and County governments, this new regional destination will open with zero debt and is constructed with 100% union labor - following through on the County's vision, which began in 2022.

The three key components of the CIO Plan under SFC's management include a new, state-of-the-art multi-use stadium featuring approximately 6,500 seats. Built to industry standards, this dynamic field can host multiple sports and a wide range of community, cultural, and entertainment events. Additionally, the stadium will be an official home field for Rutgers Baseball starting the 2027 season.

At Thomas A. Edison Park, SFC will manage scheduling and programming for one of the region's most dynamic recreation assets. Named after Thomas A. Edison, whose greatest innovations were discovered in Edison Township, the existing 180-acre park will feature 88 acres of enhanced active recreation space.

Amenities at Thomas A. Edison Park include:

  • 10 multi-sport artificial turf long fields
  • Three multi-sport baseball/softball fields
  • Championship field with track and grandstands
  • 16 tennis courts
  • 500-foot cricket pitch
  • 1 fieldhouse and new comfort stations

The third venue under SFC's oversight will be the new full-service, high-end restaurant and bar inside the new Middlesex College Student Center. Designed to serve faculty, the surrounding region, and students, the restaurant will also offer rentable space for parties and special events - operating regardless of stadium events. As part of the County's vision for workforce development, a culinary lab will be created for hospitality and culinary students at the College, gaining access to an operational, real-world restaurant for hands-on learning and potential employment opportunities.

This partnership between Middlesex County, New Jersey, and The Sports Facilities Companies signals a commitment to the greater community to provide high- quality, vibrant live experiences, both ticketed and free, reinforcing that Middlesex County is the best place to live, work, and play.
