The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) today announced that the ICANN87 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will now take place in Bali, Indonesia, from 17 to 22 October 2026, replacing the previously announced location of Muscat, Oman.
The decision to relocate the meeting was made in consultation with the meeting hosts and local partners in Oman, with a shared focus on ensuring that the AGM can proceed on schedule and support broad global participation. After a thorough search for a venue in the Asia Pacific region available on the preferred dates and with the capacity and facilities required for ICANN's Public Meetings, ICANN has selected the Bali International Convention Centre, which is managed by and attached to The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.
Bali is a well-established international conference destination, and has previously hosted major global events, including the G20 Summit and the 2024 High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships.
ICANN extends its sincere appreciation to its partners in Oman, particularly the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), for their continued collaboration and preparation efforts.
"The decision to relocate the meeting was not taken lightly," said Tripti Sinha, ICANN Board Chair. "Our priority is to ensure that the Annual General Meeting can proceed as planned, with broad and effective participation from across the global ICANN community. We remain committed to Oman and the region and look forward to holding a future ICANN Public Meeting there when circumstances allow."
Each ICANN Public Meeting brings together participants from more than 150 countries. Accessibility, travel reliability, and the ability to participate, both in person and online, are essential to its success. In light of recent developments affecting regional airspace, ICANN has taken this step now to provide certainty for participants and ensure the meeting can move forward as planned.
Registration for ICANN87 is slated to open in early July 2026.
