Chinese Ambassador to Ireland Zhao Xiyuan Visits Limerick, Clare, and Kerry

At the invitation of the County Governments of Limerick, Clare, and Kerry, Ambassador Zhao Xiyuan and his wife conducted an official visit to the three counties from February 18th to 21st. During the visit, the Ambassador held separate meetings with Mayor John Moran and Director General Pat Daly of Limerick, Cathaoirleach Paul Murphy and Chief Executive Gordon Daly of Clare, and Cathaoirleach Michael Foley of Kerry. 

The county leadership extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Zhao, highlighting the enduring cooperative relationships existing between Clare County and Yunnan Province, as well as between Kerry County and Wuhu City. The local executives emphasized their commitment to developing robust relations with China and expressed a strong willingness to play a proactive role in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations. Furthermore, they welcomed Chinese citizens and enterprises to explore opportunities for investment, tourism, and study within the three counties.

Ambassador Zhao expressed his sincere appreciation for the enthusiasm shown by the three counties in fostering cooperation with China. He stated that as China continues to formulate and implement its 15th Five-Year Plan, it remains dedicated to sharing development opportunities and achieving common prosperity with all partners. He reaffirmed that the Embassy will continue to provide steadfast support for local-level cooperation to ensure the continued growth of bilateral ties.

In addition to formal meetings, Ambassador Zhao visited local universities and businesses to engage with academic and commercial partners. Together with the respective county governments, the Ambassador also extended warm Chinese New Year greetings to the local Chinese community and international students, acknowledging their valued presence and contributions to the region.
