Ring in Lunar New Year with the Fort Worth Public Library in February

Lunar New Year is one of the most important holidays across Asia and is known by different names to an array of countries that celebrate it, including China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Korea and the United States.

To celebrate, seven libraries in February will offer a unique look into a country's Lunar New Year celebrations and traditions. Visit one or as many as you can to learn the culture and history of the celebration without leaving Fort Worth.

Participating locations:

  • Golden Triangle Library - Chūnjié in Taipei, Taiwan - 4 p.m. Feb. 4
  • Northwest Library - Tết in Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam - 3 p.m. Feb. 7
  • Southwest Regional Library - Lunar New Year in San Francisco, USA - 4 p.m. Feb. 8
  • Riverside Library - Tết in Hanoi, Vietnam - 4 p.m. Feb. 9
  • Vivian J. Lincoln Library - Tết in Huế, Vietnam - 2 p.m. Feb. 14
  • Reby Cary Youth Library - Seollal in Seoul, South Korea - 4 p.m. Feb. 18
  • East Regional Library - Spring Festival in Beijing, China - 3:30 p.m. Feb. 20

The holiday marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar. This year is the year of the horse; the 15-day celebration begins on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
