Scott Crockatt appointed associate vice-president (communications)

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Crockatt as the University of Calgary's associate vice-president (communications), effective Oct. 27, following a competitive selection process.

An internationally recognized communicator and dedicated community builder, Scott joins UCalgary from the Business Council of Alberta. As vice-president and a founding staff member, he helped build an alliance of more than 100 of Alberta's top CEOs to develop public policy focused on economic and social prosperity.

Scott has also advised chief executives, government officials, and some of Canada's largest companies and universities on communications, marketing, and media strategy.

A proud UCalgary alum, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. During his time as a student, he competed athletically for the Dinos rugby team. Scott also holds professional designations in communications and advertising.

Scott will be a member of the university's Senior Leadership Team, responsible for overseeing the development of strategic and operational plans that enhance the institution's profile and pride among its audiences and communities. He will also serve on the university's Crisis Management Team.

Outside of work, he currently serves as a volunteer and community member on several boards and advisory committees including Alberta's Disaster Response Team, Canada Task Force 2, and the City of Calgary's Business Advisory Committee.

An ambassador of optimism, Scott prides himself on seeing the possible in every challenge and helping others see it, too. I am delighted to welcome Scott and look forward to working with him to advance the University of Calgary.

Regards,
Kate Hamilton
Vice-President (External Relations)
