Possible Public Safety Power Shutoff by Xcel Energy

Xcel Energy is preparing for a significant weather event with forecasts that include extremely high winds and dry ground conditions for Wednesday, Dec. 17, beginning at approximately noon.

Because of these wind conditions, some customers may experience a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) as a public safety measure to reduce the risk of wildfire. Xcel Energy issued this press release this morning with more information on how customers can prepare and stay safe. If a PSPS is needed or there are other weather-related outages across the system, power restoration efforts will begin after high winds and elevated fire risks have ended. It may take several hours to several days for customers' power to be restored because a crew must patrol the entire power line to ensure it's safe to turn service back on before a power line can be re-energized.

Xcel Energy will continue to provide further updates and tips to prepare, stay safe, report outages and stay informed on the Xcel Energy PSPS Event Update web page.
