Metro Police Sergeant To Be Named Citizen Of The Month
The Las Vegas City Council will recognize the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada at the March 4, 2026, City Council meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, located at 495 S. Main St.
Councilwoman Olivia Diaz will recognize the investment that the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada have made in the lives of young girls in our community. The organization focuses on friendship, adventure and making a difference.
In addition, Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske will recognize Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. James LaRosa as Citizen of the Month. The team of officers who responded with Sgt. LaRosa to a critical domestic violence incident also will be recognized.
The officers showed extraordinary courage, professionalism and tactical expertise as they responded to a home where a threatening situation was occurring. With a clear focus on preserving life and de-escalation, officers entered the residence and safely rescued two juveniles.
As the situation escalated and credible threats emerged, the response was elevated to a hostage rescue operation and SWAT was requested. After nine hours, the suspect surrendered without further incident.
The council meeting will be broadcast live on city of Las Vegas TV, and on the city of Las Vegas TV YouTube channel.
