Prime Minister Rumen Radev discussed possibilities for partnership with Axon to manufacture high-tech products in the defense and security sectors. He had a meeting in the Prime Minister's Office with Axon's Senior Vice President for Global Sales Programs and Partnerships Nathan Sawtell. Axon is a manufacturer of high-tech defense products such as conducted energy weapons, body-worn cameras, drone and counter-drone systems and shows interest in expanding its production capacity in cooperation with Bulgarian companies.
The unstable global security setting and the continuous development of AI and technologies call for the highest level of preparedness for newly emerging challenges, especially in the field of defense and national security. Bulgaria has the potentials to manufacture drone and counter-drone systems and is actively exploring possibilities for enhancement and development through state-of-the-art technological solutions, the Prime Minister emphasized.
As Mr. Sawtell said, Axon is a company with a record in Europe and sees Bulgaria as a reliable partner that offers excellent investment opportunities.
Defense is a key sector for Europe at present. It was emphasized at the meeting that the capabilities of the Bulgarian enterprises and the country's excellent partnership with the EU and NATO are leading preconditions for Bulgaria to unlock its potentials and to develop its defense industry.
