Registration now open for Therapeutic Recreation Program summer season

Registration is now open for the City of Colorado Springs Therapeutic Recreation Program (TRP) summer season, offering a wide range of recreational opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities from June through August.

This summer, TRP highlights its youth camp offerings, including Discovery Camp and Teen S.C.O.P.E. Camp, which provide structured, supportive environments for participants to build skills, connect with others, and explore new interests.

  • Discovery Camp (ages 6-12) provides a safe, supportive environment where children can socialize, explore new interests, and build confidence through play. Held four days a week in June and July, the camp focuses on fun, skill-building, and positive experiences in small group settings.
  • Teen S.C.O.P.E. Camp (Summer Camp Opportunities with Possibilities for Everyone, ages 13-18) offers older youth opportunities to engage in group games, crafts, sensory and science activities, sports, swimming, and more. The camp is also held four days a week in June and July and is designed for participants who thrive in structured group environments.

In addition to summer camps, the Therapeutic Recreation Program offers programming across five core areas:

  • Arts & culture
  • Community integration & leisure education
  • Outdoor adventures
  • Social enrichment
  • Sports, fitness & aquatics

The Summer 2026 brochure, including a full program schedule, is available on the Therapeutic Recreation Program website. Registration is first-come, first-served and fills quickly; participants and families are encouraged to register early at ColoradoSprings.gov/TRP.

The Therapeutic Recreation Program provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to build skills, explore new interests, and participate in meaningful leisure experiences. Programs are designed to support independence, social connection, and community participation through structured, inclusive activities tailored to participants' abilities.
