RELEASE: Senator Mullin Previews State of the Union: “Safer Streets, More Money in Your Pocket”

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), shared the following statement in advance of President Donald J. Trump's highly anticipated State of the Union address tomorrow night at 8pm CT/9pm ET. Senator Mullin's guest for the speech will be his loving wife of 28 years, Mrs. Christie Mullin.

"There's no doubt that under unified Republican leadership, the state of our union is safer and more prosperous," said Senator Mullin. "One year in, American families are quickly benefitting from safer streets and more money in their pockets. Oklahomans are seeing historically low gas prices and growing paychecks, all while benefiting from the largest middle-class tax cut in U.S. history. In a matter of months, President Trump delivered the most secure southern border in American history-without a single change in U.S. law. It turns out, all we needed was a new president. My wife, Christie and I look forward to attending the speech to celebrate some of America's biggest victories since President Trump's return to office and hear his vision for the next three years. It's a tremendous privilege to serve the great people of Oklahoma, and as a kid from Westville, I'm humbled to attend this historic event."

Background:

  • Senator Mullin, a close ally of President Trump, anticipates the President will speak about a variety of issues, including border security, lower taxes, safer streets, the current partial government shutdown, and the America First foreign policy agenda.
