Consultation launched to set community safety priorities up to 2030

Work is gathering pace on a new Community Safety Strategy for Wirral that will set out the local priorities that partner organisations, working alongside communities, will focus on for the next four years.

A key part of developing the new strategy is gathering views from members of the public - anyone who lives, works or visits Wirral - on what they believe the limited resources partners have at their disposal should be best targeted at.

People who take part in the survey will be asked things like how safe they feel at the moment when they are within a number of settings or scenarios, during both daylight and nighttime.

They will also be asked what they believe should be the top three things that could help them to feel safer when they are out and about around Wirral.

The new strategy - 2026-2030 - will look to build upon the current strategy, which comes to an end this year. That five-year strategy identified 10 key priorities, which were:-

The current strategy is focused upon the following ten priorities:

  • Anti-Social Behaviour
  • Violent Crime
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Drugs and Alcohol
  • Hate Crime
  • Modern Slavery
  • Prevent (preventing radicalisation)
  • Road Safety
  • Emergency Planning
  • Coastal and Inland Water Safety
