Spiderman, Black Panther and more superheroes this month welcomed our DC Housing Authority families to the annual Gift of Love celebration, where DCHA youth and their caregivers enjoy holiday treats, select from toy giveaways, and meet Santa.
The Dec. 19 event had a "Marvelous" theme - with their favorite Marvel Comics' stars available for photos, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Taking place at The ARC - West Black Box Theater in Southeast DC, Gift of Love also included stops like "Heroic Holiday Treats" and "Superhero Sip Station" where attendees could enjoy hot chocolate, warm cider, and more tasty treats.
Each child got a chance to pick several toys, a book, a winter coat and a pair of sneakers. The event also featured face painting by and music provided by DC's own DJ Frank White.
More than 20 years ago, a group of DCHA staff members launched Gift of Love and over the past two decades, the annual event has supported thousands of DCHA youth.
DCHA is grateful to the organizational partners that helped make the 2024 Gift of Love a success, including:
The ARC Building Bridges Across the River | A Wider Circle | DC Housing Finance Agency | Firefighters and Friends to the Rescue | Guns Down Friday | Operation Warm | Too Tight Embroidery & Services
