Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement after she voted to ban Congressional stock trading:
"I have neither owned nor traded individual stocks since long before I was elected to Congress, and neither has my husband. Members of Congress should not abuse the public trust by trading stocks and making money off potential insider information they only have because of their jobs.
"From day one, I was an original cosponsor and strongly supported this legislation, and I was proud to vote for it today to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks. Serving in Congress is and should be about service to our country, not about getting rich at the expense of your constituents.
"As your Representative, I am committed to transparently serving your needs and making your life easier and more affordable. I take that commitment seriously, and I will never abuse the trust you have placed in me."
