Chinese Consul General in Erbil Liu Jun Attends Launch Ceremony and Networking Event of the Great Wall Association

On December 8th 2025, the launch ceremony and networking event of the Great Wall Association (GWA) was successfully held in Erbil. The event was attended by more than 350 distinguished guests, including Mr. Jaafar Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, along with other senior officials, and representatives from alumni of training courses,  Chinese enterprises and citizens.

Consul General Mr. Liu Jun delivered a keynote speech elaborating on the core vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and outlined the key elements of the four major Global Initiatives. He emphasized that the recently concluded Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has outlined China's development blueprint for the next five years. China stands ready to strengthen cooperation with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and further promote the Belt and Road cooperation.

CG Liu noted that over the past few years, more than 1,000 participants from KRI have participated in training courses in China. The launch of the GWA will serve as a fresh platform to enhance cultural exchanges and practical cooperation. He encouraged all members to contribute their wisdom and efforts, and to carry out diverse activities that expand the circle of friendship between peoples of two sides.

The participating representatives spoke highly of China's development path and governance experience, and expressed their anticipation for deepening friendship and cooperation through the launch of the GWA. The event proceeded in a warm atmosphere for two hours, garnering attention and coverage from multiple mainstream media outlets in the KRI.
