Kyrgyz Republic Celebrates Constitution Day

Today the Kyrgyz Republic celebrates the Constitution Day.

The main law of the country was adopted in 1993. Over the years of independence the Constitution has been changed 12 times. The latest version was approved at the national referendum on 11 April 2021.

The Constitution enshrined the legal foundations of modern Kyrgyz statehood. People, their lives, rights and freedoms were declared the highest values of the country.

The document enshrined the principles of sovereignty, people's power, the territorial integrity of the country, the rule of law and democracy. It also defined the legal, political and socio-economic prerequisites for the formation of the new Kyrgyz statehood.
