Securityplus FCU Joins Community Celebration of Black History Month in Baltimore

Securityplus Federal Credit Union proudly participated in the Second Annual Black History Month Parade on February 16, 2026, joining community members, local leaders, schools, and organizations from across the city in a powerful celebration of heritage, unity, and shared progress.

Hosted by the Mayor's Office of Baltimore, the parade brought together families and businesses in recognition of Black history, culture, and contributions that continue to shape the city and the nation.

The 2026 celebration holds particular significance as the United States marks 250 years since its founding and 100 years since Black history began being formally recognized at the national level. These milestones serve as a reminder that the achievements, resilience, and leadership of Black Americans are not separate from the American story - they are foundational to it.

Securityplus team members, including Tymeshia Alleyne, Obinna "Obi" Ndukwe, Elijah Thornton, and Alexia Brown, proudly marched alongside fellow organizations, engaged with residents, and celebrated the culture and history that continue to inspire Baltimore's future.

For Securityplus, participation in the parade reflects more than attendance - it reflects a continued commitment to community engagement, financial empowerment, and building stronger neighborhoods.

"As we mark significant milestones in our nation's history, we are reminded that strong communities are built through service, opportunity, and connection," said Mike Barr, President and Chief Executive Officer of Securityplus Federal Credit Union. "We are honored to participate in events that bring people together and strengthen the fabric of Baltimore."

Throughout the event, Securityplus representatives connected with residents, shared resources, and reinforced the credit union's mission of fostering opportunity and financial well-being for individuals and families across the region.

Black History Month is a time not only for reflection but for action - to continue advancing equity, supporting economic empowerment, and creating pathways to prosperity. Securityplus remains dedicated to serving as a trusted financial partner rooted in community impact and inclusive growth.

Through involvement in events like the Black History Month Parade, Securityplus continues to live its mission of empowering members, strengthening communities, and investing in a future where opportunity is accessible to all.
