CASE: Kenneth Hubbs (Case #25FE009653)
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Rebecca Chraim, Felony Trial Unit
On October 23, 2026, the Honorable Steve White sentenced Kenneth Allen Hubbs to 25 years to life in prison. On September 10, 2026, Hubbs was convicted by a jury of first-degree burglary and arson of an inhabited structure. Judge White found true that Hubbs had prior strike convictions for two first-degree burglaries and grand theft of a firearm.
On March 21, 2025, law enforcement responded to a report of a shattered glass door and significant fire damage inside the residence. An arson investigation by Cal Fire determined the fire had been intentionally set, with burned roadside flares found at multiple points of origin throughout the home. The homeowner also provided surveillance footage showing an unidentified male using a hammer to smash a sliding glass door, enter the residence, and leave moments later as flames became visible inside. Further investigation identified the individual in the footage as Hubbs. During a search of his residence, clothing matching that worn by the suspect in the surveillance video was located. Investigators also obtained store surveillance footage showing Hubbs purchasing roadside flares and kerosene two days before the fire. Evidence presented at trial established that Hubbs had been hired by a third party to break into and set fire to the victim's home.
