Meeting with Head of the Republic of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov

Alexei Tsydenov reported that, within the framework of the Far Eastern support measures and direct presidential subsidies for the Far East, the gross regional product has doubled over the past five years, from 300 to 600 billion rubles. Construction has expanded, as have industrial production and retail trade - trends which, as the President noted, are attributable to rising incomes.

The Head of the Republic also addressed support for participants in combat operations and their families, the volunteer movement, and the advancement of adaptive sports. Some 800 facilities are designated for adaptive sports. Athletes have won prizes in Russian sitting volleyball competitions, as well as in international archery events. Many veterans receive subsidies, establish their own farms, and start their own businesses. The Ministry of Agriculture's specialised centre assists in drafting business plans.

The discussion further covered the implementation of national projects over the period 2021-2025 across all sectors, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure. In healthcare, 68 new facilities have been constructed and 66 renovated, and new first-aid stations and outpatient clinics have been established. Patients from neighbouring countries, including Mongolia, now seek treatment at the high-tech nuclear medicine centre. New kindergartens and schools have been built, and major renovations are currently underway. Industrial enterprises are participating in the development of secondary vocational education. Three higher education institutions are participating in the Priority 2030 federal programme and have secured grants. This includes the renovation of academic buildings and laboratory facilities, as well as dormitory repairs. Sixteen new cultural facilities have been built, and 104 renovated. A total of 102 sports facilities have been created, and athletes have won 310 medals.

The Head of Buryatia also spoke about the development of tourism and a notable project - Medicinal Plant Cultivation. It was noted that in the northern territories, which account for more than 50 percent of the republic, the cultivation of medicinal plants yields more money per hectare than grain farming. This year, sowing has already been completed on hundreds of hectares, and the sales market is substantial, extending to neighbouring China. In Russia, the market for dietary supplements stands at 250 billion rubles, with almost all products utilising imported raw materials.

With regard to road infrastructure, over the past five years, 1,000 kilometres of roads have been constructed in the republic, along with 88 bridges. Housing construction has doubled. Fixed capital investments have increased. In terms of the investment climate, the republic ranks 13^th in Russia.

Alexei Tsydenov highlighted an exceptional project that is a source of pride for the republic - the largest greenhouse complex in the Far East, covering 20 hectares under glass. Another source of pride for the republic is the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, which manufactures helicopters. Three of these aircraft are already in operation at Gazprom facilities on Sakhalin. The region's industrial flagship is the Ulan-Ude Locomotive Repair Plant, which carries out 60 percent of all electric locomotive repairs in Russia. And yet another source of pride in the scientific sphere - the solar coronagraph telescope, which is being developed under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This telescope is the most powerful in the world in terms of sensitivity.
