Dorm Wars to Take Place Oct. 7

On Monday, Oct. 7, students from across the Lee University campus will come together at 7 p.m. in the Paul Dana Walker Arena to compete in Lee's 31st annual Dorm Wars.

Over 1,000 students and guests will file into Walker Arena to support various residence hall representatives as they raise money for charity and compete in events designed by Lee's Residential Life and Housing staff. These competitions have been designed to test competitors' energy, skills, strategy, and speed.

This year the event lineup includes an obstacle course, a shopping cart race, and a mystery event. Lee staff members will be on hand as officials and scorekeepers for the competition.

"Dorm Wars has been a Lee tradition for 31 years, and it has changed quite a bit since it first began," said Rocky Walker, director of Residential Life and Housing. "However, our goal for Dorm Wars has always stayed the same-to give students an opportunity to get connected with their fellow dorm residents and the broader Lee community through a fun night of competition. All of the hard work of our students, both those competing and those dressed up and screaming in the stands, make Dorm Wars my favorite event of the year!"

At the end of the night, the coveted title of "Dorm Wars Champion" will be awarded to the residents of one traditional female dorm, one upperclassman female dorm, and one male dorm.

This year, the funds raised by the dorms prior to the event will benefit United Way of the Ocoee Region, an organization committed to improving lives by breaking the cycle of poverty, meeting immediate basic needs, and building pathways to a healthy community.

Dorm Wars admission is free and open to the public. The event will also be available for live stream viewing at leeu.live.
